MY STORY

It’s been me and my guitar - telling my stories.

I’ve been writing songs and singing since I was a child. It’s one of the things I love to do. It brings me a lot of joy and I think it brings other people happiness as well. There’s nothing that I love to do more than sing, create music and share that with other people. I grew up in a musical family. My mother sings and plays guitar. Her sisters sing as well. When I was a child we would gather as a family and sing songs together.

I was born to a Greek father who died when I was a young child and a Maori/English/Irish mother. I grew up in the western culture of Australia and New Zealand and I’ve always had a sense of pride for where my parents came from and my cultural heritage.  Discovering who I am and where I came from has been a big part of my journey as an artist.  I have travelled the world and experienced many peoples’ cultures and as I’ve grow into my own skin and found my voice, identification with being of a particular culture is not that important to me. I think we come together by being real and authentic in our humanness and that translates through all cultures; sharing music is one of the ways that I’ve experienced this.

Making music has been a spiritual journey for me. A place to discover the truth inside of myself and a place to share with others how I see, hear, feel and experience life. There’s been different phases where I’ve explored various styles of music, but essentially it’s been me and my guitar - telling my stories.

I feel very fortunate and my life is very blessed. I currently reside in Bali, Indonesia with my husband Peter and our son Rayner. I know that I’ll always make music. It is a part of who I am. And if I can bring some light and happiness to others in this world then it’s a good day.
